Sunday Lunches 2024

These are the pubs we visited during 2024.

Feb 2024. The year started with 17 members attending Bow Garden Center for a sunday lunch on the 4th. This was not a pub but the restaurant at the garden center, the members enjoyed a convivial lunch of either a Sunday lunch of meat and veg or a choice from the normal menu for those who wanted a change. It went very well and everybody had a good time.

March. The march event was held at the Tom Cobley Inn at Sprayton and was attended by 15 people. All had a very good lunch and it was much enjoyed by all who attended.

April. This meal was taken at The Rose and Crown at Sandford with 19 of us all meeting up at the pub. Everybody commented on how good the food was and how well the pub managed to serve the number of us there, All the standard sunday lunches were very good indeed as were the various other options offered.

May. This time we visited the Red Lion Inn out at Shobrooke. It was the first time that we had visited this pub and once again we were not disappointed. Although it did take a little time to serve the 17 of us that attended, the food supplied was excellent and as usual general talk and conversation filled any gaps.

June. This meal was held at the Stoke Canon Inn at Stoke canon. This is a community run pub with a permanent chef employed by the community. There were a great many problems in the run up to this meal with quite a few changes of attendees but in the end the event proved successful.

July. This meal was held at the Thorvaton Arms in Thorvaton. Getting there proved a little problematical as the normal route off the old Tiverton road was closed due to road works in Credition so a diversion through Cowley Bridge was required, however the extra traveling was very well rewarded for the members attending. An excellent lunch was provided by the pub with the choice of several different meats and a good selection of vegetables. The staff were very attentive and polite and the meal was enjoyed by all.

October. This was held at The Ship Inn at Crediton, a new place for us to try. The pub is slowly being updated and a new upstairs dining area has been set up. 14 of our members had a very good Sunday Lunch with plenty of meat and veg.
