The Pub Lunch Group provides an opportunity for members to meet informally over lunch for conversation and friendship. We meet once a month, currently the last Friday of the month, at approximately 12.30, in pubs in and around our area. We aim to order on the day once we have seen the menu and prices!

You do need to be a paid up U3A member to join the group. U3A members can come once to try before joining the group. Once you have joined the Pub Lunch group you will be informed by E-Mail (where possible) or by phone, of the date, time, and venue of the next lunch. If you would like to join our group or just find out more then please let us know by emailing us using the email link above for coordinator. If you don't drive and there is no bus we can send out a request for a lift for you.

July 2026: This months meeting was held out at the Kings arms over at Tedburn, this was the first time we had visited this pub and it did not dissapoint. the food supplied was very good and well cooked and presented for each of the dished we had requested. The pub was very pleasant and the area we were seated in was also very spacious and comfortable. We will be revisiting this pub in the future.

June 2026: The June meeting was held at The Three Pigs in Crediton, this is the first time we have managed to get a booking at this pub as the previous owner had always tuned us down. 19 members attended and were treated to a very good selection of meals in their function room which (considering it occurred during the first heat wave) was an air conditioned space. All who attended were quite satisfied with their meals and it seems that we will be adding this venu on our lists in future.

May 2026: The May meal was out at The Post House Inn at Whiddon down, many of the eight people attending arrived a little late due to an approach road suddenly being blocked causing a considerable diversion to be undertaken. However once we had all arrived we were treated to a very good meal with several choices. Much discussion was undertaken about possible better routes back home to avoid the road chaos.

April 2026: This event was held at The Fingle Bridge Inn, The attendance was down to six as the way into this pub along many very narrow lane with a steep hill running down to the pub can put many people off attending. The meals supplied were once again very good and filling and after the meal we all took an opportunity to go for a walk along the river in the bright sunshine.

March 2026: This time we re visited The Stoke Canon Inn, this is a community run pub where volunteers run the bar and a employed chef does all the cooking. Twenty members attended this time and were treated to the standard great meal supplied at this pub, the food is always good here and the deserts are worth waiting for.

Feb 2026: The second meal of the year was held back at the Tom Cobley Inn out at Sprayton a pub we have visited before and once again we were not dissapointed. A 14 of us enjoyed a very hearty meal (always plenty of food at this pub) and the usual convivial affair with much talking between members with silence only felling with the arrival of the meals. Quite a large selection of meals were enjoyed including Chicken Curry, Spare ribs, Fish Pies, Fish cakes, Chicken wrapped in bacon and Gammon Steaks. Those of us who still had room had wonderful deserts. Once again the pub treated us all very well and we would recommend it to all and sundry for a meal.

Jan 2026: The first meal of the new year was held at The London Inn out at Morchard Bishop. Once again this pub exceeded expectations with the quality and quantity of food provided, this realy is a pub where if you like deserts then do not have a starter as you wont have room for both. All 17 members who attended were pleased with everything and many left with "doggy bags" of food for later. Photos of deserts below.
